Melissa Mulongoy is a Registered Psychotherapist. She works primarily to provide a high quality of mental health care and psychotherapy services to the Black community. She puts you and your needs at the front and center of treatment and wellness.
Melissa's practice is rooted in a client-centered, humanistic, existential, and systemic approach. This means you are the priority and therapy will encourage self-discovery, insights, and making meaning of your life.
She draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion & Mindfulness-based therapies, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Melissa has a Master's of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Her stance as a therapist has been shaped by ten years of work with non-governmental organizations on women’s empowerment and child protection, tackling gender-based violence and human rights violations. She worked in multicultural settings in Africa, Latin America, North America, the Caribbean, and Asia. This has been crucial in shaping her views of the world and in developing a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a human being.
